about
Written during a time of hardship, this song is an anthem of hope in the small things, in the broken things, and in the things despised by the world. Our Lord does not delight in the wisdom and strength of man, rather, it’s a broken and contrite heart he will not despise.
This is reason for hope, because when we are broken we can look to the manger in the little town of Bethlehem and be reminded that our God delights in the small things, for his power is made perfect in weakness.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” Psalm 51:17
lyrics
The Lord came down to walk with man, but found him turned from God aside
Two natures in the person Christ, to mediate our cursed plight
The Lord came down to speak with man, to break our pattern try, fail, kill, try again
Loving God, and loving man, being the change by which we can
The radiance shone from west to east
The star proclaimed a King is born
Wouldn't it be like God to come, to a humble manger born
Wouldn't it be like God to come, in ways we would not form
The Lord came down to die for man, as a shepherd for his sheep lays down
This preeminent salvation plan, for those who dwell on this cursed hard ground
The radiance shone from west to east
The star proclaimed a King is born
Wouldn't it be like God to come, to a humble manger born
Wouldn't it be like God to come, in ways we would not form
